Because of very strict legislation prohibiting the use of additives, pasteurization is the only process currently used to treat dairy products. The use of high heat during pasteurization can also causes a deterioration of certain desirable components in the dairy product. CARD is developing a treatment process, utilizing Nanocar+, which provides a remanent anti-bacterial effect, without deterioration of any nutrients.
The food processing industry requires large quantities of safe water which is used for cleaning and preparation of the food prior to packaging. This water is then discarded after a single use. Treatment of this once-used water with Nanocar+ allows it to be recycled and re-used, resulting in significant cost savings. An additional benefit is the elimination of the use of chemical products in the disposal of the waste water.
